A long overdue introduction….

Meet Evan.  Born May 2, 2010 at 4:13 AM.  6 lbs, 2 oz, 19 inches tall.

Going into this pregnancy, we knew that we were going to have to do some minor juggling when it came to going to the hospital because, unlike last time, we have a young man that needed tending to.  Luckily for us, Pau Pau came down to assist with the tending duties.

C had long been talking about when she wanted to go into labor.  Now, I’m no genius, but I was pretty sure that you couldn’t control things like that.  I stand partially corrected.  Her last call night was on April 27th, and she said that she was going to “aim” for the following Friday, because Pau Pau was coming into town on that Thursday, the 29th.

Well, we missed it by a couple days, but no one’s perfect.

After doing a major preventative grocery shopping trip, we went to the Olive Garden to eat some Italian food.  The pregnant members of our party had the Eggplant Parmigiana, because Eggplant is a “night shade” plant, and supposedly induces labor.  Now, I’m not going to go and give any guarantees, but the testimony is that the contractions became more frequent shortly after dinner.  After dinner, we went home, put E to bed and proceeded to get ready to go to the hospital, just to “see what was going on”.

A few hours later, we found ourselves in the labor and delivery suite, waiting for the baby to arrive.  Every few hours, the nurse would check in with us, and by about 3:45 AM, C was deemed “complete”.  A scant 30 minutes later, Dai Dai had joined us in the outside world!

It’s been a constant adjustment process as we remember how to be parents of a newborn, teach E1 how to be a big brother, and just try to establish some sort of routine in this new stage of our lives.  Here’s to change! (And there is a lot of changing.)
