Rude awakening, volume 2

Christina has woken up and can’t get back to sleep, so has moved herself into the dining room to do some late night studying.  Nathan and Emmett are sawing logs in bed.

*rumble rumble rumble*

My first thought, “Duck and cover! WAIT! There’s no tables in here! Quick! Cover Emmett! Where’s Christina?!?!”

Then I heard her running down the hallway, screaming (I think that’s what ultimately woke Emmett up.  That, and suddenly finding me ON TOP of him).

We turned on the lights, saw that the big crash that we heard was a couple of boards that were leaning up against the wall that had fallen down.  We looked on the trusty internet to see that it was a mere 4.4.

We learned later that the epicenter was in the Whittier Narrows, not too far from here, but that it was also considerably far underground, which is why it didn’t do as much damage as it could have.

It took us almost an hour to calm down and get back to sleep.

Hummingbirds, then earthquakes… what’s next?
