Garden update: I can see clearly now the rain is gone…

by on March 12, 2010

What little rain we had.  I think we had a total of maybe 12 days of rain down here in So. Cal.  The upshot of it is, though, that we get an extended growing season for all of our fruits and veggies.

Our seedlings grown from the seeds that we extracted from a batch of Clementines (aka “Bebe Chang Changs”):

Cilantro:

One of our hanging tomato plants has started to bear fruit!

Our Meyer lemons are growing nicely, this is the one that I’ve been keeping track of. It’s nice and FAT.

We bought a Concord Grape “stick” from Home Depot and it, too, has started to grow leaves:

Much like the Clementines, we threw some cherry seeds into our worm bin, and they started sprouting, so we potted them!

This is the orange “tree” that we planted when Emmett was born:

We found some spaghetti squash seeds growing in our compost, so we put those in the ground. Emmett likes to help pull weeds:

The peas that we planted last month are starting to flower, and they may be bearing fruit!

Also, notice how the plant has suspended itself between the two pieces of twine that we hung up.

More of our purchases from Home Depot, a yellow bell pepper plant:

And an heirloom tomato:

This, we think, is a cherry tomato left over from last season that refused to die:

And this is the fig tree that belongs to the landlords. It’s starting to grow new leaves!

Auntie Linda’s Irises are in full bloom:

And our old “Christmas Tree” (A rosemary bush) has started some new growth. The pieces that are sticking out are new, because when we bought it from Home Depot, it was trimmed to the typical Christmas Tree shape.

And lastly, our trusty dai bun jeurng that helps us keep everything well hydrated:
