Event #nc51195984

by on February 7, 2008

So, I’m comfortably snoozing when I should be, at 5:30 in the morning, when i hear “NATHAN!” Now, Christina has a tendency to overreact by screaming at the most innocuous (I’ve always wanted to use that word) things, like spilling water or putting too much baking powder in the dough mixture. I’ve learned to tune these out and wait for the real cause for alarm, when she screams bloody murder. This was such an occasion.

I stumble down the hallway, and i come around the corner to find my wife and son sitting in the kitchen. Emmett is happily snacking away, and Christina is attached to the breast pump, and she looks at me with a slight look of panic in her eyes. “There was an earthquake!!!” Now, keep in mind that I felt like this:

So, after a cup of coffee and a short gathering of wits, I logged on to the US Geological Survey website and found this:

We did our due diligence as citizens of earthquake country and reported our experience (the “did you feel it?” link on the bottom. Magnitude 3.1, about 2 seconds, centered in Pacifica, a few miles from here. Fun times on a Thursday. More coffee, please.

    As for the seismic event:

Didn’t feel it… Sound asleep, I guess… good job on the earthquake reporting.

This is a good time to look around to see if there’s anything that could come crashing down on you during a more intense event.

  2. What? There was an earthquake this morning? =D Thanks for the fyi!
